IBT of Miami secures $5 million contract for FDOT project

IBT of Miami says it has been awarded a $5 million contract with the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) for a road improvement project on State Road 64 at the intersection of Rye Road in Manatee County.

The project’s scope of work includes multi-lane roundabout construction, milling and resurfacing, drainage improvements, lighting and signing, landscaping improvements, intelligent transportation system relocation, and utility work.

“State Road 64 is becoming the next major highway in this area and we believe the roundabouts are the best solution to slow traffic at this intersection, which is considered to be dangerous by the local residents,” Daniel Toledano, managing director and chief operating officer of IBT of Miami, said in a statement.

“The maintenance of traffic will be a major focus for the IBT team in order to grant safety to nearby residents during the construction period,” Toledano said.

The company, which broke ground on the 13-month project in November, said it will strengthen IBT’s presence in the western Florida region, considering its nearby ongoing S.R. 45 construction in Sarasota, and will employ 25 local workers at peak during the construction.
