H.J.High Construction builds new Daytona State College building

H. J. High Construction a 77 year old Orlando based construction management company, has begun construction on Daytona State College’s 24,000 square foot Building #3 at the Flagler/Palm Coast campus. The state-of-the-art building will enhance students’ learning experiences and opportunities in Flagler County.

“These are very exciting times for the Palm Coast and Flagler County communities,” states Kent Ryan, dean of the college’s Flagler/Palm Coast campus. “With construction of this building our local students can continue to get a high quality education right here, with less travel to our other campuses. For our business community, we’re delighted to be able to expand workforce training opportunities on our campus to meet future workforce growth.”

The yet-to-be-named building, designed by ShenkelShultz Architecture, will be Green Globe certified and will include classrooms, a collaborative lecture hall, informal areas for student collaboration and socializing, offices, a bookstore and a student lounge. The project also includes a 300-stall parking lot and a new central energy plant for the campus’s heating and cooling needs.

Site preparation began in August 2013 – with a groundbreaking celebration set for 4:30 p.m. on October 10, 2013. The facility is expected to be complete by the 2014 fall semester.
