Work has started on Ivey Flats, a 137-unit affordable apartment community at 30 S. Ivey Lane in Orlando.
The $2.1-million investment from Orange County’s Affordable Housing Trust Fund will support construction of the complex, which is reserved for households earning at or below 80 per cent of the area median income.Local and county officials, including Orange County Mayor Jerry Demings, District 6 Commissioner Michael Scott, Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer and District 5 Commissioner Shan Rose, joined developers and project partners at Tuesday’s groundbreaking ceremony.
Ivey Flats is one of several projects advancing under Orlando Unlocked, a city initiative designed to speed up housing approvals and expand supply, and Orange County’s Housing for All plan, which launched in 2020. Since its creation, the Affordable Housing Trust Fund has allocated $58 million and helped support 3,722 new affordable units.
“This is a clear example of government and the building industry working together to meet urgent housing needs,” Demings said.
The multi-family development is expected to provide long-term affordability and ease pressure on one of Central Florida’s most cost-burdened rental markets.
Construction is now underway, with completion expected in 2027.
