Granite has been awarded an approximately $11-million contract by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) to construct and install an aircraft arresting system at Homestead Air Reserve Base in Homestead.
The project involves installing a BAK-12/14 aircraft arresting system, which provides an emergency stopping mechanism for aircraft on the airfield. Granite’s work also includes runway striping.
“This award reflects Granite’s commitment to growing our Federal business by combining specialized Federal expertise with the local knowledge, relationships, and resources of our Regional partners,” said Granite Federal Division Vice President Curt Haldeman.
“This scalable, collaborative model strengthens our competitive position, expands our addressable market, and supports disciplined, profitable growth by leveraging capabilities and resources already established across Granite.”
Granite’s Florida regional team will work with its Federal Division to deliver the project.
“Our Florida team is proud to partner with Granite’s Federal Division on this important project,” said Granite Florida Regional Vice President David Ballard. “By operating as one Granite team, we can pursue a broader pipeline of Federal opportunities, improve resource utilization, and build repeatable growth across Florida and the Southeast—creating long-term value for our clients and shareholders.”
Construction is expected to be completed in the fourth quarter of 2027.
