Organizations dealing with stormwater discharge issues can meet Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) permit requirements through training programs offered by the American Stormwater Institute (ASI).
In a statement, ASI says: “NPDES permits require that Qualified personnel are knowledgeable in the principles and practice of erosion and sediment controls and pollution prevention. They must also possess the skills to assess conditions that could affect stormwater quality, and the effectiveness of any control measures.”
“American Stormwater Institute courses specialize in Stormwater training so you can be recognized as ‘Qualified’,” the statement says. “Our instructors are the best in the business sharing their expertise in practical real world terms.”
Courses offered include:
- Florida Stormwater, Erosion and Sedimentation Control Inspector
- Qualified MS4 Stormwater Inspector
- Qualified Industrial Stormwater Inspector
- Qualified Low Impact Development/Green Infrastructure Inspector, and
- Qualified MS4 Stormwater Permit Compliance Professional
“Our courses are based on a “Real World” attitude of finding implementable solutions to the challenges that stormwater inspectors face every day,” ASI says. “The state and federal regulations require that ‘QUALIFIED PERSONS’ conduct inspections related to stormwater permits. The overarching goal of the ASI classes is to ensure that our students are well qualified to conduct these inspections.”
Students who successfully complete ASI courses will be awarded a certification which is valid for three years. ASI also awards CEU’s or PDH’s so that you can meet professional certification training requirements.
