Florida Hospital Carrollwood will invest $17.5 million to expand its emergency department, according to a report from the Tampa Bay Times.

The hospital, located at 7171 North Dale Mabry Hwy. in Tampa, plans to add 15 new private treatment rooms, new pediatric rooms and waiting areas, and new technology. The investment includes a $2.5 million donation from local philanthropist Dr. Kiran C. Patel.

Construction on the emergency department has started, and is expected to be completed early next year.
