FGBC names Neal Communities and Atlantic Housing Partners as Green Builders of the Year

Neal Communities and Atlantic Housing Partners LLLP have recently been awarded by the Florida Green Building Coalition (FGBC) as Builders of the Years of the year during the organization’s annual meeting in Orlando on Oct. 18.

Neal Communities received recognition in the single-family category and Atlantic for multi-family.

FGBC has also awarded two “Green” homes for ranking the highest environmental score, a 343 Sunset Beach Dr. home developed by the Habitat for Humanity South Sarasota County for the single family category, and a 624 73rd St. home developed by the Keys Affordable Development LLC for multi-family.

Meanwhile, large-scale developments, particularly the Celebration Community Development District Facility by City of Celebration and the Heritage Village at Longwood Building A & Building B by Wendover Housing Partners, have also received recognition for garnering the highest scores as  FBC’s Certified Green Commercial Building and Certified Green High-Rise Residential, respectively.

As for municipalities with the highest environmental score, the FGBC has awarded Orange County in the country category and Bonita Springs in the city category. Two Trails’ Drew Smith has also been recognized as the FGBC Certifying Agent of the Year and Environmental Construction & Consulting Inc.’s Ralphe Locke as Volunteer of the Year.

In addition to the awards, FGBC has also named new board members including University of Florida coordinator Claire Lewis, Key West’s Richard Lightner III, Breaking Ground Contracting president Mary Tappouni and Green Florida Properties real estate broker Jeannette Moore.

Since 2000, FGBC has certified more than 16,400 developments and municipalities in Florida.
