Embraer Executive Aircraft Inc.proposes building a 250,000-square-foot facility at Melbourne International Airport in Brevard County, Fla., Florida Today reports.
According to the company, the jobs it plans to create through its expansion will have an average annual wage of $55,000. The Economic Development Commission of Florida’s Space Coast estimates that Embraer’s 600 new jobs would lead to 850 spinoff jobs, with a combined annual payroll of more than $75 million for the 1,450 people.
On March 4, county commissioners gave initial support to an incentive package for Embraer. They voted 4-1 to qualify the company for the county’s tax abatement program and to schedule a hearing for March 18 on the multimillion-dollar incentive package.
