Developer Darryl Shaw has purchased more than half of the Tampa Park Apartments housing complex for his Ybor City project.

The developer, in partnership with Washington D.C based real estate firm Kettler, completed the purchase of 12.7 of the 18 acres of the Tampa Park Apartments housing complex for $28.5 million, reports the Tampa Bay Times.

The property is considered by city officials as a pivotal development to help link Ybor City to downtown Tampa. Shaw is planning a walkable residential development that will compliment Ybor’s history and character, according to the Times.
