Del Webb, a division of PulteGroup, says it has broken ground on Del Webb BayView, a 950-homesite active adult community on 500 acres in Manatee County.

The project’s amenity complex will include a clubhouse, two pools, onsite restaurant and bar overlooking the pools and pond, 12 sports courts, community garden, dog park and a private amphitheater, the developer says in a statement.

“Homeowners will enjoy one of the top amenity complexes in the Tampa Bay area,” said Sean Strickler, president of the West Florida division of PulteGroup, which includes the Del Webb, Centex and Pulte Homes brands. “Everything was designed with our new homeowners in mind including outdoor activities, dining and entertainment.”

The centerpiece of the amenities complex will be a 20,000-sq. ft. clubhouse and recreational complex with fitness center, demonstration kitchen, juice-and-coffee bar, aerobics studio, arts and crafts studio, and rooms for socializing. The 3,500-sq. ft. indoor-outdoor bar and grill will be next door.

The main building will open onto a resort-style pool with lap lanes and a resistance pool for water aerobics. Tennis, pickle ball and bocce courts, plus a dog park, community garden and kayaking area will be adjacent to the clubhouse.

Residents will gather around a private amphitheater with an event lawn that hosts concerts and other performances, plus a farmers’ market.

There is a construction web cam with four views of land development as it happens. Construction of the decorated models is expected to begin in early 2021 with the grand opening expected in July.
