Contractor celebrates $18 million Miami Simulation Hospital topping out

Moss & Associates has commemorated the topping out of the Simulation Hospital at the University of Miami School of Nursing and Health Studies with a celebration for nearly 150 employees and guests on Dec. 16.

The $18 million Simulation Hospital, has been designed to replicate a variety of settings including a functioning clinic, hospital and home environment. The 41,000 sq. ft., five-story building will include an outpatient clinic, operating room suite, intensive care unit, skills resource centers, an auditorium with approximately 300 seats and a medical surgical unit.

The project broke ground in November 2015 and is expected to be completed in July 2017.

“Moss is excited to contribute to the advancement of healthcare education in Miami,”Moss & Associates executive vice-president Scott Desharnais said in a statement. “This cutting-edge concept will greatly influence the future of nursing in our community and throughout the nation. We are glad to be able to include this project in our portfolio.”

The Simulation Hospital will be one of the nation’s first education-based destination centers for simulation immersion.
