Construction begins on $1-billion Sunseeker Resorts in Charlotte Country

Allegiant Travel has started construction on Sunseeker Resorts Charlotte Harbor, a first-of-its-kind destination resort in Charlotte County.

Located near the Punta Gorda Airport, Sunseeker Resorts Charlotte Harbor will be the largest and most unique resort in the region.

Phase one of the project will feature approximately 500 hotel rooms, more than 180 suites, meeting and conference space, as well as a variety of restaurants, bars and retail outlets along a scenic harbor walk. The price tag for the first phase is $470 million.

Construction is anticipated to be complete in 18 to 24 months. The project will create hundreds of construction jobs, and more than 800 permanent jobs.

Las Vegas-based Steelman Partners will serve as the project’s design architect. Other project team includes Charlotte County-based Florida Premier Contractors, interior design studio Bishop Pass, and national building contractor Suffolk.
