CAMCON is laying the groundwork for a project that’s ‘bigger than construction’ — it’s about creating a place of healing, comfort, and stability for families facing some of life’s most difficult challenges.
The South Florida-based builder has started site preparation for a new Ronald McDonald House, a $33 million, seven-story structure set to rise on the campus of Jackson Memorial Medical Center in Miami. The project is being developed in partnership with Ronald McDonald House Charities of South Florida (RMHC South Florida) and is scheduled to officially break ground on Sept. 9.
“This is more than bricks and mortar,” CAMCON said in a statement on Instagram. “It’s a space for families to stay close to their loved ones, to find support, and to feel at home — even in the most trying times.”Current site work includes clearing and grubbing, demolition of existing sidewalks and asphalt, and removal of utility lines and drainage structures. These early efforts will prepare the site for what will become a 60,000-square-foot facility with 54 private en-suite bedrooms — nearly doubling the capacity of the existing Ronald McDonald House nearby.
Designed by Justin Architects, the project on the grounds of Jackson Memorial Hospital spans seven stories and includes a wide array of facilities carefully crafted to serve the families who require proximity to the hospital during treatment.
“The opportunity to design and contribute to this facility has been nothing short of a labor of love for our dedicated team,” Justin Architects officials said. “We take immense pride in knowing that our work will make a meaningful difference in the lives of families in need.”
When complete, the new building is expected to accommodate around 420 families per year, a significant increase from the current facility’s capacity of 31 families per night. According to RMHC South Florida, nearly 125 families are turned away annually due to limited space.
The project is part of a larger campaign titled Fuel Hope for Families, which aims to raise $35 million to fund the build. As part of the effort, RMHC South Florida has partnered with Sunshine Gasoline Distributors to donate one cent per gallon of fuel sold at participating stations through November 2025.
Since opening its first house in 1974 in Philadelphia, Ronald McDonald House Charities has provided millions of families worldwide with housing and support near children’s hospitals. The Miami expansion will continue that legacy, providing critical assistance to families seeking treatment at Holtz Children’s Hospital and other nearby facilities.
CAMCON, which has supported RMHC South Florida through past volunteer work and sponsorships, said it’s honored to contribute to a project that will have a lasting impact.
“We’re proud to help build a place that will serve so many families in need,” the company said. “We look forward to bringing this vision to life.”
Construction is expected to be completed by early 2027.
