The Daytona Beach City Commission approved a rezone request to allow the Texas-based Buc-ee to build a 120-gas pump station and 53,254 sq. ft. travel convenience center next to the Interstate 95-LPGA Boulevard interchange, according to a report in the Daytona Beach News-Journal.

It would be the largest gas station/convenience store in the state, dwarfing the 38-pump, 20,000 sq. ft. Busy Bee truck stop in Live Oak, off of Interstate 10, according to the Journal.

The 35-acre site of the planned Daytona Beach Buc-ee’s is on the northeast quadrant of the interchange. It was previously zoned for single-family residential and industrial use.

Site work could start as soon as May, with building construction starting this summer, according to project engineer Parker Mynchenberg.
