Broward County sets apprenticeship participation requirements; offers program to explain the rules

Broward County says it has established apprenticeship participation requirements for county contracts greater than $2 million — and is offering a program on Monday (June 22) to explain the requirements.

“All current and potential Broward County construction vendors, including primes and County Business Enterprise (CBE) certified/certifiable subcontractors, are invited to learn how this new ordinance affects your business,” the county says in a statement.

Attendees will learn about:

  • Program guidelines
  • Applicable contracts
  • Program exceptions
  • Reporting
  • Monitoring and more.

This event is hosted by the Broward County Office of Economic and Small Business Development (OESBD). Through this program, OESBD provides support, information and resources to the business community.

The county says the event will be available for viewing by live webcast.  County officials encourage pre-registration via Eventbrite, even though it is free and open to the public.

The program at the Broward County Governmental Center, 115 S. Andrews Ave. (Room 422) in Fort Lauderdale, starts at 4:30 p.m.
