Broward County prepares mandatory apprenticeship participation rules; invites businesses to live stream event

Broward County says it is considering a new ordinance “establishing apprenticeship participant requirements for  county construction contacts over $5 million,” the county’s Office of Economic and Small Business Development (OESBD) says in a statement.

The county’s Board of County Commissioners will discuss the matter at its May 19 meeting.

In response, OESBD says it is scheduling a “virtual information session” live stream program at 4 p.m. on May 6.

“All current and potential Broward County construction vendors, including primes and County Business enterprise (CBE) certified/certifiable sub contractors are invited to learn more about this new ordinance and how it will affect your business.”

The event will include a review of the program guidelines, applicable contracts, program exceptions, reporting and monitoring.

You can register online by visit Broward.org/EconDev and selecting events, or phone (954) 357-6400. View the live stream at https://vimeo.com/408877383.
