B & I Contractors, a Florida based mechanical, plumbing and electrical subcontracting and building services firm has reported three significant contract awards.
In the first award, the Fort Myers-headquartered contractor says it was awarded the $2.5 million electrical scope for the new ground-up Encompass Health project in Naples. The hospital will offer inpatient physical therapy services to patients.
B & I’s scope of work for the 50-bed project will consist of providing Florida Power and Light (FPL) primary to the site and incoming electrical service with backup generators. B & I is also responsible for the interior and lighting controls, fire alarm system, pathways for all telecommunications and the nurse call systems.
Groundbreaking is slated for the beginning of June 2021 and the project will take approximately 12 months to complete. B & I will mobilize to the site in mid-June to begin the underground electrical scope.
In the second project, B&I was awarded the $5.9 million HVAC and plumbing scope for the construction of the new Hillsborough County Waterset PK-8 Magnet School located in Apollo Beach,.
The new campus is composed of five buildings including 20,000 sq. ft. and 40,000 sq. ft. buildings for classrooms with a capacity for 1,800 students. The campus also includes a gymnasium building, a two-story administration building and a music and food service building as well as athletics fields and playing courts. The underground work began in April 2021, and the project completion is scheduled for June 2022.
“B & I is proud to contribute to this project and is excited for the future faculty and students,” the company said in a statement.
In addition, B & I, was awarded the $2.2 million plumbing scope for the Lynn University Student Housing project in Boca Raton. The project consists of all new sanitary, waste, vent, storm, domestic hot and cold-water piping. B & I is also responsible for providing new plumbing fixtures such as bathtub and shower units.
The new student dormitory will be a three-story building with 342 beds. The dorm will consist of two- and four-bedroom suites with their own assigned bathrooms. Each floor of this dorm will hold its own common study area and the ground floor will have a student lounge, as well as an interior courtyard. The projected completion date for this project is July 2022.
