Amicon Construction celebrates its twentieth anniversary

Amicon Construction in Miami is celebrating its twentieth anniversary this month. Having grown from a small startup working out of a garage in 1996, Amicon has evolved into one of South Florida’s top boutique construction firms, specializing in luxury retail interiors and distinctive work spaces, the company says in a news release.

Amicon says clients include Prada, Miu Miu and Chopard, Facebook, 50 Eggs, Inc. and Pipeline, and law firms such as Shutts & Bowen, Jones Day and Greenberg Traurig.

Amicon was co-founded by CEO Adam Mopsick and CFO Ross Adickman. President John Wood and vice-president of construction Adam “AJ” Mueller are also partners.

Mopsick says Amicon has grown at least 30 percent in total number of employees and revenue every year since 2011. Amicon Management, an independent owner representation division has doubled in both number of employees and revenue each year since 2011.

The  company’s first project two decades ago still remains etched in Mopsick’s memory.

“The first project was a large condo conversion in Quayside, combining two condominium units into one,” he said. “I was so excited to get the deposit that I sat in the car and looked at the check for 15 minutes. I was 24 years old and getting that job still remains one of the proudest moments in my life. The client was an older gentleman, experienced in business. He valued giving an opportunity to a young entrepreneur. He has since passed away, but I am still in contact with his wife. I will never forget the chance he took with his investment and to this day we always look for ways to provide opportunities to young, driven entrepreneurs with potential.”

Amicon says it still adheres to the same core principles that it has for the past 20 years: high quality, integrity, extreme attention to detail and a unique, team-oriented client experience.

“I don’t believe we have even begun to scratch the surface of our potential,” Mopsick said. “While Amicon is now 20 years old, our principals are still young and have the same energy and focus we had when we were in our twenties. I don’t know exactly what opportunities await, but I believe with certainty that we will do extraordinary things. That is the exciting part. Our best times are still ahead of us.”

Amicon recently relocated from just outside of Wynwood to larger offices in the Little River business district, which are currently under construction.

The company is having an anniversary celebration on Thursday April 14 from 6:00 p.m. to 10 p.m. at Concrete Beach Brewery, Wynwood, (325 NE 24 St.) Miami.
