Turner Construction Company has been selected by JMA Ventures as general contractor for Westcourt Orlando, a $500 million mixed-use development next to the Kia Center in downtown Orlando.

The 900,000-square-foot project will include a Kimpton hotel, high-rise residential units, Class A office space, retail space and a live entertainment venue. The development is designed to create a walkable entertainment district surrounding the arena, home of the NBA’s Orlando Magic.

“JMA Ventures has a clear vision for what Westcourt Orlando can become, and we’re grateful for the opportunity to help bring it to life,” said Jeff Justen, vice-president and general manager of Turner Construction Company. “A project like this demands coordination across dozens of trades working simultaneously on very different building types — that’s the challenge we’re built for. We’re looking forward to putting a strong Central Florida workforce behind it.”

Early site work is already underway as the project team prepares for full mobilization.

At peak construction, the development is expected to support about 800 workers onsite and create roughly 1,600 direct construction jobs over the life of the project. Officials said the project will also create opportunities for local subcontractors, with many trade partners expected to come from the Central Florida market.

Work packages will be structured to encourage broad participation across the project’s multiple components.

Developers say the project will strengthen connectivity and increase activity around one of Orlando’s major sports and entertainment destinations.
