JFB Construction has received approval for an $18.9 million bond to serve as the general contractor for the first phase of a new public high school in DeSoto County.
The project, part of a three-phase construction plan, will expand the existing campus by approximately 100,000 square feet on 40 acres, accommodating 1,379 additional students. The total value of the full project is estimated at $100 million.
“Last month we executed an $18.9 million contract for the first of three phases,” said CEO Joseph F. Basile III. “This approval and bond issuance allows us to proceed, providing a financial guarantee that the project will be completed and that subcontractors and suppliers will be paid.”
Basile added that he signed a personal guarantee to demonstrate confidence in the company’s ability to complete the project on time and on budget. He cited JFB Construction’s strong balance sheet, including over $34 million in working capital, as a key factor in securing contracts of this size and complexity.
Construction on Phase 1 has already started, with completion expected by January 2026. Phase 2, valued at over $30 million, is scheduled to start in June 2026.
The expansion aims to address growing enrollment needs in DeSoto County and provide upgraded facilities for students and staff.
