South Florida construction market looks good: John Leete

The Miami Herald has published an extensive profile/interview with John Leete, responsible for Florida operations of Massachusetts-based  construction management company John Moriarty & Associates.

The business’s largest project currently under construction the $500 million BrickellCity Center owned by developer Swire Properties.  The company is also building the Perez Art Museum Miami, “a $220-million project designed by the Swiss architectural firm Herzog & de Meuron, currently under construction at Museum Park on Biscayne Bay,” the newspaper says.

In the interview, Leete sees an exceptionally healthy South Florida construction market in upcoming months. Here is an example excerpt.

Q: DO YOU SEE SOUTH FLORIDA GAINING MOMENTUM IN CONSTRUCTION?

Yes. It has been for the last 18 months and is continuing to pick up steam. The number of new projects this year alone is staggering. The big question is if and when they all break ground. It will be like turning back the clock to 2006.”
